Petryk finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Petryk defeated Tyrel Griffith (Kelowna, BC) 3-2, then won 6-5 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB). Petryk went on to lose 6-2 against Brad Heidt (Kindersley, SK). Petryk responded with a 5-2 win over British Columbia's Tom Buchy. Petryk went on to lose 6-4 against Dean Ross (Calgary, AB). Petryk responded with a 7-6 win over British Columbia's Andrew Bilesky. Petryk won 7-5 against Brent Bawel (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
