Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) lost 5-4 to Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the DEKALB Superspiel, held March 17 - 21, 2011 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. Advancing directly to the semifinals, McEwen won 5-4 over Vic Peters (Winnipeg, MB) to advance to the championship game. of the 2011 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;
McEwen finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Richard Muntain (Lac Du Bonnet, MB) 6-1, then won 6-3 against David Hamblin (Morris, MB) and 7-3 against David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, McEwen take home 9.000 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize. For week 28 of the event schedule, McEwen did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 3rd place on the World Ranking Standings with 386.030 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 236.320 points earned so far this season.
