To advance to the championship game, Sonnenberg won 5-4 over Cathy Overton-Clapham (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Manitoba Lotteries Womens Curling Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 5-3 over Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Manitoba Lotteries Womens Curling Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
Sonnenberg finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sonnenberg defeated Jill Thurston (Winnipeg, MB) 7-1, then went on to lose 7-6 against Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB). Sonnenberg responded with a 5-2 win over Anette Norberg (Karlstad, SWE). Sonnenberg went on to lose 8-5 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). Sonnenberg responded with a 4-3 win over Sherry Middaugh (Coldwater, ON). Sonnenberg won 8-1 against Dana Ferguson (Calgary, AB), then won 7-5 against Desiree Owen (Grande Prairie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Manitoba Lotteries Womens Curling Classic Championship title, Sonnenberg earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $15,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 16th place overall with 85.720 total points. Sonnenberg ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 56.590 points earned so far this season.
