Fenson finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Fenson defeated Northern Ontario's Brian Adams Jr. 7-5, then won 8-1 against Northern Ontario's Jeff Currie. Fenson went on to lose 5-4 against Minnesota's Mike Farbelow. Fenson responded with a 5-2 win over Matt Stevens (Bemidji, MN). Fenson won 10-1 against Adam Kitchens (Devils Lake, ND) in their final qualifying round match.
