Lene Nielsen (Taarnby, DEN) finished 5-6 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nielsen lost 6-3 to Melanie Robillard (Fuessen, GER), then responded with a 7-5 win over Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS). Nielsen went on to lose 8-6 against Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO). Nielsen responded with a 8-7 win over Linda Klimova (Prague, CZE). Nielsen won 9-7 against Heather Nedohin (Edmonton, CAN). Nielsen went on to lose 7-6 against Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN). Nielsen lost 9-8 to Korea's Ji-Sun Kim where Nielsen responded with a 7-4 win over Mirjam Ott (Davos, SUI). Nielsen won 5-4 against Italy's Diana Gaspari. Nielsen went on to lose 7-2 against Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson. Nielsen lost 8-5 to Allison Pottinger (St. Paul, USA) in their final qualifying round match.

Nielsen earned 10.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 24th place overall with 80.385 total points. Nielsen ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 36.465 points earned so far this season.
