Brewster went on to lose 8-1 against Logan Gray (Stirling, SCO). Brewster responded with a 6-2 win over David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO). Brewster won 9-5 against Ewan MacDonald (Inverness, SCO), then won 8-5 against John Hamilton (Edinburgh, SCO) and 13-7 against Murray Young (Forfar, SCO). Brewster went on to lose 6-3 against Smith. Brewster responded with a 6-5 win over David Edwards (Aberdeen, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
Brewster earned 8.160 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Brewster move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 6.33 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 14th overall with 148.435 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
