Mike Wood (Victoria, BC) qualified for the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-4 against Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC). of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;

Wood finished 4-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wood lost 5-4 to Dangerfield, droppimg another game, 8-2 to British Columbia's Jody Epp where Wood responded with a 5-3 win over Steve Waatainen (Nanaimo, BC). Wood won 7-2 against Wes Craig (Victoria, BC), then won 6-0 against British Columbia's Jody Epp and 4-1 against Jason Clarke (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Wood earned 0.750 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Vancouver Island Shootout, moving up 35 spots the World Ranking Standings into 256th place overall with 1.606 total points. Wood ranks 207th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.750 points earned so far this season.
