David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) qualified for the 2013 Edinburgh International playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Ross McCleary (Kinross, SCO).

Murdoch finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murdoch defeated Fredrik Nyman (Harnosand, SWE) 6-4, then won 9-1 against Pavel Kocian (Bratislava, SVK) and 9-2 against Frazer Hare (Stranraer, SCO). Murdoch won 5-4 against Moray Combe (Dumfernline, SCO), then won 7-2 against Roman Ruch (Uzwil, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Murdoch earned 2.205 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Edinburgh International. For week 13 of the event schedule, Murdoch did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
