Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) lost 4-2 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, held October 10 - 13, 2014 at the Crestwood Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Laycock won 6-5 over Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-3 over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;

Laycock finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock defeated Jessi Wilkinson (Edmonton, AB) 8-4, then won 7-4 against Jeff Hartung (Langenburg, SK) and 6-4 against Jamie King (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, Laycock take home 11.935 world rankings points along with the $9,000CDN prize, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 12th place overall with 121.382 total points. Laycock ranks 19th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.232 points earned so far this season.
