In their opening game, Payne lost 9-2 to Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, NONT), droppimg another game, 10-9 to Tracy Fleury (Sudbury, NONT) where Payne responded with a 12-5 win over Gale Wiseman (Timmins, NONT). Payne went on to lose 7-1 against McCarville. Payne lost 9-3 to Fleury where Payne responded with a 9-3 win over Wiseman in their final qualifying round match.

Payne earned 0.495 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 217th place overall with 2.739 total points. Payne ranks 252nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.495 points earned so far this season.
