In their opening game, Machold lost 8-3 to Keith Dropkin (Wayland, MA), then responded with a 8-5 win over Michael Greene (Long Island, NY). Machold went on to lose 10-8 against Hunter Clawson (Potomac, MD). Machold responded with a 7-4 win over Matthew Gallegos (Ardsley, NY). Machold went on to lose 10-3 against Dropkin in their final qualifying round match.
