Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) won 6-4 over Adam Cseke (Kelowna, BC) in the Final of the Cloverdale Cash Spiel, held September 16 - 18, 2016 in Surrey, British Columbia. To advance to the championship game, Liu won 8-3 over Stephen Schneider (Vancouver/Vernon, BC) in the semifinals of the 2016 Cloverdale Cash Spiel in Surrey, British Columbia; and won 7-5 over Will House (Vancouver, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Cloverdale Cash Spiel in Surrey, British Columbia;

Liu finished 4-0 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Schneider 9-1, then won 6-3 against Andrew Bilesky (New Westminster , BC) and 6-3 against Sean Geall (Kelowna, BC). Liu won 6-2 against Jeff Guignard (Vancouver, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Cloverdale Cash Spiel Championship title, Liu earned 14.895 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 29th place overall with 129.297 total points. Liu ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 32.035 points earned so far this season.
