In their opening game, King lost 5-3 to Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK), droppimg another game, 6-3 to Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) where King responded with a 4-3 win over William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB). King won 5-4 against Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK). King went on to lose 4-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

King earned 2.573 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 28 spots the World Ranking Standings into 207th place overall with 10.437 total points. King ranks 138th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.573 points earned so far this season.
