Liu lost 9-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN) where Liu responded with a 7-6 win over Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR). Liu went on to lose 8-2 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Liu responded with a 8-5 win over Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). Liu won 9-2 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
Liu earned 15.561 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 34 of the event schedule, Liu did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Liu ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
