Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN) lost 7-3 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the World Mens Curling Championship, held March 30 - April 8, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 9-5 over Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2018 World Mens Curling Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada; and won 6-4 over Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, USA) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 World Mens Curling Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada;
 
Gushue finished 9-3 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS) 7-6, then went on to lose 8-7 against Mouat. Gushue responded with a 7-2 win over Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Gushue won 8-7 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA), then won 7-6 against Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) and 9-2 against Masaki Iwai (Hokkaido, JPN). Gushue won 8-2 against Steffen Walstad (Oppdal, NOR), then won 8-5 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) and 7-4 against De Jia Zou (Harbin, CHN). Gushue went on to lose 6-5 against Ruohonen. Gushue lost 6-5 to Edin where Gushue responded with a 8-1 win over Alexander Baumann (Baden-Baden, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the World Mens Curling Championship, Gushue take home 53.150 world rankings points. For week 35 of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
