Shannon Birchard/Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-5 over Jamie Sinclair/Korey Dropkin (Blaine, USA) in the Final of the Pacific Northwest Mixed Doubles Invitational, held October 13 - 15, 2017 at the Seattle Granite Club in Seattle, United States. To advance to the championship game, Birchard/Gunnlaugson won 10-7 over Rui Wang/De Xin Ba (Harbin, CHN) in the semifinals of the 2017 Pacific Northwest Mixed Doubles Invitational in Seattle, Washington, United States; and won 9-2 over Hyeji Jang/Ki Jeong Lee (Uiseong, KOR) in the quarterfinals.
Birchard/Gunnlaugson finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birchard/Gunnlaugson defeated Maureen Stolt/Peter Stolt (Minneapolis, MN) 8-0, then won 7-6 against Bobbie Sauder/Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) and 5-3 against Wang/Ba in their final qualifying round match.
