Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) qualified for the 2018 Curling Masters Champery playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-2 against Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI).

Retornaz finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Tomi Rantamaki (Hyvinkaa, FIN) 9-4, then won 8-2 against Switzerland's Bochatay and 6-2 against Jan Hess (Zug, SUI). Retornaz went on to lose 6-3 against De Cruz in their final qualifying round match.
