To advance to the championship game, 's Cory Heggestad won 5-4 over Damien Villard (Cambridge, ON) in the semifinals of the 2018 Port Elgin Superspiel in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada; and won 8-3 over Wayne Tuck Jr. (Strathroy, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
's Cory Heggestad finished 2-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, 's Cory Heggestad defeated Brandon Tippin (Elmvale, ON) 8-2, then went on to lose 5-3 against John Willsey (Waterloo, ON). 's Cory Heggestad responded with a 7-1 win over David Gravelle (Port Elgin, ON). 's Cory Heggestad went on to lose 8-3 against Kyle Foster (Arborg , MB) in their final qualifying round match.
