CHAMPION: Grandy/Janssen Wins 2020 Ontario Mixed Doubles Tour Championship

Clancy Grandy/Patrick Janssen (Pickering, ON) won 10-2 over Dorottya Palancsa/Zsolt Kiss (Budapest, HUN) in the Final of the Ontario Mixed Doubles Tour Championship, held February 21 - 23, 2020 at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club in Wingham, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Grandy/Janssen won 11-4 over Catherine Liscumb/Chris Liscumb (Ilderton, ON) in the semifinals of the 2020 Ontario Mixed Doubles Tour Championship in Wingham, Ontario, Canada; and won 11-3 over Katie Cottrill/Shawn Cottrill (Belgrave, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2020 Ontario Mixed Doubles Tour Championship in Wingham, Ontario, Canada;

Grandy/Janssen finished 2-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Grandy/Janssen defeated Jessica Shipmaker/Mike Aprile (Newmarket, ON) 6-4, then won 7-6 against Kira Brunton/Brett Lyon-Hatcher (Ottawa, ON). Grandy/Janssen went on to lose 8-6 against Suyuan Fan/Jiawen Nan (Beijing, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Ontario Mixed Doubles Tour Championship Championship title, Grandy/Janssen earned 34.057 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 668th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 32.229 after improving upon their best so far this season. Grandy/Janssen ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 116.811 points earned so far this season.
