Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) lost 6-4 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Japan National Championship, held February 9 - 16, 2029 at the Karuizawa Ice Park in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Morozumi won 6-5 over Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2020 Japan National Championship in Karuizawa, Japan, Japan;
Morozumi finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi lost 7-6 to Matsumura, then responded with a 6-5 win over Yamaguchi. Morozumi won 11-1 against Ryutaro Tani (Hokkaido, JPN), then won 12-2 against Yuya Takigahira (Nayoro, JPN) and 10-3 against Kotaro Noguchi (Miyagi, JPN). Morozumi won 10-6 against Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN), then won 11-2 against Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN) and 10-1 against Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Japan National Championship, Morozumi take home 22.424 world rankings points. For week 30 of the event schedule, Morozumi did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Morozumi ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
