Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) 6-3, then went on to lose 6-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Gushue lost 3-2 to Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB) where Gushue responded with a 7-2 win over Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 7.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 3rd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -44.625 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 126.125 points earned so far this season.
