Nathan Young (St. Johns, NL) finished 2-3 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Young lost 8-3 to Sweden's Fredrik Nyman, droppimg another game, 9-8 to Soo-Hyuk Kim (GyeongBuk, KOR) where Young responded with a 5-4 win over Brian Adams Jr. (Thunder Bay, NONT). Young won 7-5 against Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN). Young went on to lose 8-1 against Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.

Young earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 59th place overall with 61.687 total points. Young ranks 61st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 23.250 points earned so far this season.
