In their opening game, Asselin defeated Rob Ainsley (Toronto, ON) 7-2, then won 5-3 against Champ to advance to the A-Qualifier where they 7-5 against Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
