Abe finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Shunta Kobayashi (Sapporo, JPN) 8-4, then went on to lose 4-3 against Fukuhiro Ohno (Sapporo, JPN). Abe responded with a 4-3 win over Sato in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the ADVICS Cup Championship title, Abe earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $9,292CDN first prize cheque. Abe move up 7 spots after posting a net gain of 12.75 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 46th overall with 80.375 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
