Spurgeon lost 10-2 to Ying Yang (Beijing, CHN) where Spurgeon responded with a 12-5 win over Laura Beever (Hawarden, WAL). Spurgeon won 11-2 against Antonieta Martins Ethier (Lisbon, POR) in their final qualifying round match.

Spurgeon earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 806th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 0.704 after improving upon their best so far this season. Spurgeon ranks 227th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.500 points earned so far this season.
