Heather Smith/Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) lost 7-3 to Marlee Powers/Luke Saunders (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Nova Scotia Mixed Doubles Provincials, held February 1 - 4, 2024 at the Liverpool Curling Club in Liverpool, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Smith/Purcell won 10-4 over Jessica Daigle/Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2024 Nova Scotia Mixed Doubles Provincials in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada;
 
Smith/Purcell finished 4-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith/Purcell defeated Sarah Chaytor/David McCurdy (Halifax, NS) 6-5, then won 8-4 against Powers/Saunders to advance to a A-Qualifier game where they lost 6-5 against Daigle/Manuel. Smith/Purcell responded with a 9-7 win over Maria Fitzgerald/Caelan McPherson (Halifax, NS) to advance to a B-Qualifier game where they lost 11-1 against Powers/Saunders to drop into a C-Qualifier game where they responded with a 8-6 win over Mary Myketyn-Driscoll/Adam McEachren (Halifax, NS) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Nova Scotia Mixed Doubles Provincials, Smith/Purcell take home 2.750 world rankings points, dropping 8 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 814th place overall with 12.750 total points.
