8-6 to Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB), then responded with a 9-6 win over Mark Johnson (Edmonton, AB). Stoughton went on to lose 7-5 against Jim Cotter (Kelowna, BC). Stoughton responded with a 11-3 win over Norway's Pal Trulsen in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the BDO Classic Canadian Open Championship title, Stoughton earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $30,000CDN first prize cheque. For week of the event schedule, Stoughton did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
