Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC) finished 1-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Pierce lost 8-2 to Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB), then responded with a 6-3 win over Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK). Pierce went on to lose 6-5 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Pierce lost 5-3 to Brock Virtue (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

. For week 8 of the event schedule, Pierce did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Pierce ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
