McEwen finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Greg Balsdon (Toronto, ON) 10-5, then won 6-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) and 5-4 against Mark Kean (Toronto, ON). McEwen went on to lose 5-3 against Howard in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Players' Championship, McEwen take home 30.000 world rankings points along with the $15,500CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 12 after improving upon their best so far this season. McEwen ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 197.560 points earned so far this season.
