In their opening game, Sampson defeated Evan Jensen (Medford, WI) 14-4, then went on to lose 10-1 against Jeremy Roe (Rio, WI). Sampson responded with a 10-5 win over Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY). Sampson won 8-3 against Matt Mielke (Medford, MA). Sampson went on to lose 8-7 against Ryan Lemke (Medford, WI). Sampson responded with a 10-1 win over Peter Stolt (Plymouth, MN). Sampson won 9-8 against Corbett, then won 9-4 against Roe. Sampson went on to lose 7-6 against Todd Birr (Mankato, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
