To advance to the championship game, Carlson won 6-4 over Sarah Anderson (Philadelphia, PA) in the semifinals of the 2013 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul;
Carlson finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carlson defeated Amy Lou Anderson (St. Paul, MN) 5-4, then won 5-4 against Ashley Kallos (Thunder Bay, ON) and 9-4 against Cory Christensen (Duluth, MN). Carlson won 5-4 against Nina Spatola (Madison, WI). Carlson went on to lose 11-2 against Margie Smith (Saint Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the St. Paul Cash Spiel, Carlson take home 2.275 world rankings points along with the $1,855CDN prize, moving up 15 spots the World Ranking Standings into 81st place overall with 7.650 total points. Carlson ranks 56th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.275 points earned so far this season.
