Carey finished 9-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carey defeated Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, CAN) 12-5, then won 6-4 against Stacie Curtis (St. John's, NL) and 8-5 against Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC). Carey won 9-8 against McCarville, then won 5-4 against Suzanne Birt (Charlottetown, PEI) and 6-4 against Sylvie Robichaud (Moncton, NB). Carey went on to lose 7-5 against Jenn Hanna (Ottawa, ON). Carey responded with a 6-4 win over Marie-France Larouche (Levis, QC). Carey went on to lose 8-7 against Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB). Carey responded with a 8-2 win over Jill Brothers (halifax, NS). Carey won 6-5 against Jolene Campbell (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Championship title, Carey earned 57.024 world rankings points. Carey move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 41.245 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 9th overall with 413.433 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Carey ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 295.447 points earned so far this season.
