McEwen responded with a 8-7 win over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). McEwen went on to lose 6-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). McEwen responded with a 7-1 win over Bruce Korte (Saskatoon , SK) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 35.083 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Meridian Canadian Open, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 30.86 after improving upon their best so far this season.
