Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) lost 6-5 to Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup, held February 8 - 12, 2017 in Westlock, Alberta.

Appelman finished 4-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB) 8-5, then went on to lose 9-3 against Bottcher. Appelman lost 10-6 to Thomas Scoffin (Edmonton, AB) where Appelman responded with a 10-8 win over Jamie King (Edmonton/Calgary, AB). Appelman won 7-3 against Harty, then won 7-6 against Mick Lizmore (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup, Appelman take home 16.844 world rankings points. For week 26 of the event schedule, Appelman did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
