Chris Gardner (Ottawa, ON) qualified for the 2016 Performance Spider Midweek Special playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2016 Performance Spider Midweek Special in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario;

Gardner finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gardner defeated Michael Brunner (Gstaad, SUI) 7-1, then went on to lose 6-3 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB). Gardner responded with a 6-1 win over Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.

Gardner earned 8.927 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Performance Spider Midweek Special. Gardner move up 34 spots after posting a net gain of 32.688 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 53rd overall with 67.751 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
