In their opening game, Hozjan defeated Mark Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA) 7-6, then went on to lose 7-6 against Martin Sather (Ardsley, NY). Hozjan responded with a 9-2 win over Frederick Dubberley (Plainfield, NJ). Hozjan went on to lose 8-7 against Benj Guzman (Wayland, MA) in their final qualifying round match.
