Andrew Stopera (Blaine, USA) lost 5-4 to Ki Jeong Lee (Uiseong, KOR) in the Final of the World Junior Men's Championship, held February 16 - 26, 2017 in PyeongChang, Korea.

Stopera finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stopera defeated Cameron Bryce (Stirling, SCO) 7-6, then went on to lose 5-3 against Marco Onnis (Trentino, ITA). Stopera responded with a 9-6 win over Jan Hess (Zug, SUI). Stopera went on to lose 7-4 against Lee. Stopera responded with a 6-2 win over Tyler Tardi (Langley, CAN). Stopera won 10-1 against Ugurcan Karagoz (Eruzurum, TUR), then won 5-3 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Jar, NOR). Stopera went on to lose 9-8 against Johan Nygren (Goteberg, SWE). Stopera responded with a 6-4 win over Zhi Yu Wang (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the World Junior Men's Championship, Stopera take home 13.246 world rankings points. For week of the event schedule, Stopera did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Stopera ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
