Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) lost 10-4 to David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) in the Final of the Scottish Curling Championships, held February 18 - 25, 2017 in Perth, Scotland.
 
Mouat finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mouat defeated Chay Telfer (Glasgow, SCO) 7-2, then went on to lose 6-5 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Mouat responded with a 8-3 win over Scott Hamilton (Glasgow, SCO). Mouat won 8-6 against Ally Fraser (Inverness, SCO). Mouat went on to lose 9-2 against Murdoch. Mouat lost 8-1 to Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO) where Mouat responded with a 10-5 win over Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO). Mouat won 9-5 against Grant Hardie (Dumfries, SCO), then won 9-7 against Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Scottish Curling Championships, Mouat take home 31.178 world rankings points. For week 28 of the event schedule, Mouat did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mouat ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
