Hess lost 13-3 to Attinger where Hess responded with a 9-5 win over Pfister. Hess went on to lose 7-5 against De Cruz in their final qualifying round match.
 
Hess earned 2.993 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 140th place overall with 40.198 total points. Hess ranks 118th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 28.590 points earned so far this season.
