John Epping (Toronto, ON) qualified for the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). of the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Regina, Saskatchewan;

Epping finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Epping defeated Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB) 10-3, then won 7-4 against Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) and 6-5 against Edin. Epping won 7-6 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

Epping earned 32.027 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, remaining in 6th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 382.66 total points. Epping ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 32.027 points earned so far this season.
