To advance to the championship game, Simmons won 6-1 over JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Mother Club Fall Curling Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 6-2 over Daniel Birchard (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Simmons finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons defeated Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) 4-3, then won 5-2 against David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) and 4-1 against Birchard. Simmons won 4-2 against Riley Smith (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic, Simmons take home 22.424 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 15th place overall with 250.686 total points. Simmons ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 74.533 points earned so far this season.
