To advance to the championship game, Newfoundland / Labrador's Brad Gushue won 5-4 over Nova Scotia's Jamie Murphy in the semifinals of the 2017 StuSells Toronto Tankard in Toronto; and won 7-2 over Northern Ontario's Jordan Chandler in the quarterfinals.

In their opening game, Newfoundland / Labrador's Brad Gushue defeated Northern Ontario's Jordan Chandler 5-1, then won 7-4 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) and 6-5 against Nova Scotia's Jamie Murphy in their final qualifying round match.
