To advance to the championship game, Manitoba's Mike McEwen won 6-2 over Sean Geall (Kelowna, BC) in the semifinals of the Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic in Tempe, Arizona, United States;
 
Manitoba's Mike McEwen finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Manitoba's Mike McEwen defeated Arizona's Darryl Horsman 7-5, then won 10-4 against Bob Leclair (Tempe, AZ) and 8-2 against Geall. Manitoba's Mike McEwen won 6-4 against Kroy Nernberger (Blaine, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
