To advance to the championship game, Marnoch won 7-3 over Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 King Spud Classic in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada; and won 4-3 over Jerry Chudley (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 King Spud Classic in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Marnoch finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Marnoch defeated Kyle Csversko (Neepawa, MB) 5-0, then went on to lose 5-2 against Steve Irwin (Brandon, MB). Marnoch responded with a 9-3 win over Richard Muntain (Pinawa, MB). Marnoch won 6-4 against Trevor Loreth (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the King Spud Classic Championship title, Marnoch earned 15.289 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 19 spots the World Ranking Standings into 96th place overall with 59.35 total points. Marnoch ranks 106th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 25.561 points earned so far this season.
