Bedard finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bedard lost 4-1 to Francois Gagne (Montreal, QC), then responded with a 6-1 win over Steve Holdaway (Montreal, QC). Bedard won 9-0 against Jeffrey Stewart (Montreal, QC), then won 6-3 against Roy in their final qualifying round match.
