Kanda won 6-4 against Tatsuya Ogawa (Hokkaido, JPN). Kanda went on to lose 6-4 against Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN). Kanda responded with a 6-4 win over Kazuhisa Unoura (Osaka, JPN). Kanda went on to lose 9-5 against Masaki Iwai (Hokkaido, JPN). Kanda responded with a 9-6 win over Atsushi Kamigochi (Hokkaido, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Kanda earned 1.425 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 221st place overall with 16.509 total points. Kanda ranks 167th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.386 points earned so far this season.
