Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) qualified for the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-4 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishe, ON).

Gushue finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Rich Ruohonen (Chaska, USA) 7-4, then won 10-8 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 6-1 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue won 6-3 against Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

Gushue earned 31.678 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 527.343 total points. Gushue ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 162.482 points earned so far this season.
