Marek Briza (Prague, CZE) finished 1-3 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Briza lost 11-2 to Benny Kapp (Fuessen, GER), droppimg another game, 8-3 to Stefan Sever (Jesenice, SLO) where Briza responded with a 6-4 win over Jakub Rychly (Prague, CZE). Briza went on to lose 10-2 against Angus Bryce (Dumfries, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
