To advance to the championship game, Lottenbach won 5-3 over Simon Gempeler (Adelboden, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2018 Dumfries Challenger Series in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; and won 8-3 over Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) in the quarterfinals.
 
Lottenbach finished 2-2 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lottenbach defeated Orrin Carson (Dumfries, SCO) 8-2, then went on to lose 5-4 against Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO). Lottenbach responded with a 8-3 win over Blair Haswell (Stranraer, SCO). Lottenbach went on to lose 6-5 against van Dorp in their final qualifying round match.
