Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) finished 3-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin lost 7-6 to Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN), then responded with a 5-4 win over Matt Dunstone (Regina, CAN). Edin won 5-2 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA), then won 5-0 against Zou. Edin went on to lose 4-3 against Dunstone. Edin lost 6-4 to Shuster in their final qualifying round match.
